| Plot Summary of The Wicked Games of a Gentleman |
" Lord Drake Boscastle is man with it all; looks, charm and extreme wealth. Drake decides to visit a soiree before meeting for the first time with his new mistress, and while biding his time, he meets Eloise Goodwin, the companion to one of his gambling companion's sister. He sets out to charm her, finding her not beautiful, but witty as well. Drake knows he should not pursue Eloise, so he tries to resist temptation and sees her and her young charge safely home before meeting with his celebrated new mistress.
Eloise Goodwin is a woman with a secret past. Eloise was once engaged to married before she scandalized herself by humilating her fiance in public for cheating on her. Ostrasized by her family, she sought a position as a companion and has taken care of herself since her family kicked her out. She is on the brink of moving on to a new position, but first she must see her spoiled charge, Lady Thalia Thornton, married to her bethrothed first. Thalia, who is upset with alliance, throws Eloise in a panic when she disappears.
Eloise tries to locate Thalia's brother to help him find her, only he too has left town due to gambling debts. Desperate, she asks Drake's cousin, Gabriel, to help her locate Drake because he maybe the only one with the knowledge of finding Thalia. After locating Drake at the house of ill repute, he agrees to help her and asks her to become his mistress, throwing aside the his current mistress since Eloise and no other is the woman his body craves.
Eloise agrees to become Drake's mistress, and ends up falling in love with him. Drake, also has fallen for Eloise, but fights his feelings at every turn. But he cannot deny he wants her for his wife, but first they have the danger of her ex-fiance who wants revenge as well as Eloise's obligation to fulfill her duty to Thalia.
