Plot Summary of The Bachelor's Bed
"Lani Mills is in love with her employer Colin West for almost a year already. She cleans his house once a week and she always anticipate seeing him in those days. However almost a year has passed and Colin seems to be oblivious to her. One day Colin surprises her by asking her if she can pose as his pretend fiancée for 2 days just to get his mother off his back. Colin is working in a very important project and his mom's persistence to marry him off by pairing him with women distracts him in his work Since Lani seems always to be even-tempered and kind, he figures she will be able to throw his mother off her matchmaking scheme and he will get his peace at last. Lani is shocked by Colin's proposal and she instantly agrees wanting to help him in his trouble but more than that she wants to take this chance to be in a relationship with Colin. However during their pretend engagement, Colin seems to still be elusive. He is always busy with his work and never bothers to spend time with her. When Lani becomes bold with expressing her attraction to him, Colin is shocked and afraid that the arrangement won't work after all because he fears of hurting Lani. He fears she will take the engagement as real. But she always seems to convince him otherwise despite showing affection to him as if it's real. When they have slept together, Lani believes that Colin might actually love her too in spite always reminding her that their engagement is fake only. She learns about Colin's failed marriage and she wants to be the one who can open him to love again. But her starry-eyed dreams shatter when she overhears Colin expressing adamantly that there will be no wedding and that the engagement is farce. Lani is finally convinced that Colin won't change and won't let himself love again so she decides to run from him not wanting to continue their arrangement anymore. Only when Lani leaves him that Colin finally realizes that he loves Lani and she is the best thing that has ever happened to him. So he finds her and woos her back again this time making their relationship real.
