Plot Summary of The Littlest Marine
"Elizabeth Stone knows that Mr. Right is not in the form of a man with a career in Marine. Her childhood life as an Army brat has given her a perspective that it's hard to live with a man in the military since she has experienced lots of moving around, worrying about her father's safety, and the absence of her father in many special occasions in her life. When her sister makes her as bridesmaid and pairs her off with the best man Harding Casey, she is not amused and she tries her best to ignore Harding even though sparks fly between them. Harding is completely interested in Elizabeth. But Elizabeth is oblivious to him because she views his career negatively. Since they are going to play vital roles in her sister's wedding, they call a truce and settle for friendship. In their time together, both of them have a hard time denying the passion between them. Elizabeth frankly tells Harding her view on career Marine. Harding accepts the boundary she set. They sleep together agreeing that there would be no strings attached to their relationship. Elizabeth starts to fall in love with Harding. Harding tells her that he'll be deployed in a few months. Although she is sad to hear it, she still continues their relationship until whatever time they have. When Elizabeth gets accidentally pregnant, Harding proposes marriage to her telling her they should marry before he ships out. Elizabeth refuses his proposal not wanting him out of obligation. Harding is angry with Elizabeth's refusal but he's determined not to let her walk away. He devises a way to show her his real feelings and his love for her. Elizabeth finally admits to herself that she has fallen in love with Harding and she is miserable that Harding just wants her because of the baby. But when Harding slowly pursues her the days following after rejecting his proposal, Elizabeth is convinced that he loves her and she is willing to make a life with him despite knowing the hardship of being married to a career Marine.
