| Plot Summary of The Last Frontier |
"Michael Reynolds, a British secret service agent, is cold and calculating. After eighteen months of training aimed at making him focus his mind solely on his job, he is sent into Communist-occupied Hungary to bring back a British scientist who has defected.
His skills are immediately put to the test when he falls into the hands of the ruthless Hungarian Secret Police. In an attempt to continue his mission, he seeks the help of the leader of an underground movement that is set up to smuggle Hungarians over the border into the West.
Then Reynolds encounters a second shock: the leader, who was once a military officer in charge of bloody battles, is now a pacifist who urges peaceful overtures by the West toward the Communists. "
