| Plot Summary of Only Revolutions |
" Only Revolutions tells the story of two kids, Hailey and Sam, who are sixteen years old and do not age. Their stream-of-consciousness narratives, although seemingly taking place at the same time, actually occur 100 years apart from one another's. They still tell the same stories though - they talk about meeting each other for the first time and embarking on a years-long cross-country tour.
Along the way they meet the enigmatic Creep, a shady villian whose purposes in shadowing the two youngsters is never made entirely clear. Besides thwarting the Creep's various advances, they also struggle with finding a job to support themselves (and keeping it), understanding the modern world they find themselves in, and with understanding their own forever budding sexuality and needs for excitement and drugs.
Their travels take them far into the 21st century, where America is a seemingly barren wasteland. Their jubilant adventures become subject to the same rot that has penetrated the landscape, and their final adventure is a struggle to survive on a cold mountaintop."
