| Plot Summary of Beyond Business |
"When Renee Williams is offered a position as Assistant at Blackstone Farms in Virginia, she seizes the opportunity to leave trendy Miami behind. When Renee meets her new employer, Sheldon Blackstone, the owner of Blackstone Farms, she is surprised by his stunning good looks and sincerity. At 53 years old, Sheldon Blackstone has had his share of hard times. After the death of his beloved wife Julie to breast cancer twenty years ago, Sheldon was forced to raise his two young sons, Jeremy and Ryan, by himself. In the years since Julie's death, Sheldon has shunned any female attachments and devoted himself to the running of Blackstone Farms. Sheldon is instantly attracted to his beautiful new employee Renee. When Sheldon tells Renee that her housing at Blackstone Farms has been altered due to a fire, Renee is panic-stricken. Renee desperately needs the job at Blackstone Farms and can't imagine going back to Miami. Sheldon informs Renee that she will be living under his roof with him until the renovations are made on her dwelling. When Renee informs Sheldon that she is pregnant by her married ex-lover, Sheldon is floored. Renee gently explains to Sheldon that her lover Donald lied to her about his marital status and then left her for his wife. Renee has no intentions of informing Donald about the pregnancy and plans to raise the baby on her own. Sheldon endears himself to Renee by telling her that he will see to it that a baby's room be added to her new dwelling. Renee soon realizes that the Blackstone family is influential and well-respected within the community. As Renee becomes immersed in Sheldon's world and the day to day operations of Blackstone Farms, she finds herself dangerously attracted to her boss. When a random kiss between Renee and Sheldon at a racing event lands in the national newspapers and on television, Renee fears that Donald will track her down to Blackstone Farms and make trouble for her and the baby. Although Sheldon finds himself falling for the sexy mother-to-be, he won't allow himself to be vulnerable to love again after having lost his wife. Sheldon blames himself for his wife's fatal diagnosis and feels that he wasn't a supportive husband as she battled the deadly cancer. Sheldon feels that he was too busy running Blackstone Farms and training the farm's thoroughbreds. As Sheldon and Renee find themselves living under the same roof and working together by day, they both begin to realize that they have a shared destiny."
