Plot Summary of Trouble in Paradise
"Jesse Stone (hero of Night Passage, the first book in this series) has just settled in new job as police chief of Paradise Massachusetts. His ex-wife has moved to the East coast and now works at the local TV station.
Some thieves decide to take over Stiles Island, an enclave for the rich with its own security. Macklin and his girlfriend Faye, claim to be wealthy buyers and befriend the local realtor, Marcy, one of Jesse's girl-friends.
Macklin recruits a team and he and his girl-friend start to infiltrate the community, visit place, get invited to parties while the team prepares to blow a bridge, and organize an escape route.
Jesse deals with usual police matters, such as two teens burning the house of a gay couple and meets Abby Taylor, now a lawyer, again.
When the carefully orchestrated attack on the Island insulates it from the rest of the world, Jesse gets to deals with the thieves and kidnappers using all his smarts and experience."
