Plot Summary of No Cure for Death
"Sheila Mallory and her friends and neighbors in Taviscombe have the usual complaints about the efficiency of their local medical practice. The doctors are overbooked and appointments are hard to get, to name a few. All this fades into the background when the newest member of the practice, Dr. Morrison, is murdered in his office during an extemely busy day. The waiting room is packed with patients, including Sheila, who goes to work trying to uncover information about the dead man. A brilliant research doctor who formerly worked in London, Dr. Morrison was not popular with either patients or staff. There is no shortage of suspects, from his ex-wife and former colleagues in London, to his former lover, a married woman doctor in the practice who was not taking the breakup lightly.

Sheila soon finds out that not everyone disliked John Morrison, however. Her friend, Nora, was very devoted to him, and was responsible for his move to Taviscombe following a professional and personal crisis in London. Nora paints a picture of a different man, devoted to his work, but capable of caring and deep friendship. Some of his patients, such as her neighbors Alan and Susan, were also pleased with the doctor and his expert medical care.

As usual, Sheila's interactions with the residents of Taviscombe provides her the answers to many questions. As the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, she considers one after another of the people in John Morrison's complicated life, and with the help of Roger, her police detective friend, she uncovers a truly surprising explanation for his death."
