| Plot Summary of Billionaire Bachelors - Stone |
"Stone Lachlan's mother and owner of Smythe Corporation is giving the company to Stone in one condition: that he marries and live with the girl for 1 year. Stone is surprised by the deal but because he wants the company so bad he is willing to marry a woman. He finds the perfect candidate in Faith Harrell. Faith and her mother has been his ward for almost ten years now. When both of their fathers died, Faith's mother beg him to be their guardian for she can't take care of Faith with her degenerative multiple sclerosis disease. Stone accepts the responsibility and takes care of their finances too. He pays for Faith's education and needs. He decides to check on Faith again when he seems to have been remiss with his guardianship. But he is surprised to find out that Faith has withdrawn from college and is working in a clothes shop. He goes after her and asking her to explain her decision.
Faith has been in love with Stone the first time she sees her when she's been a teenager. When she finds out that Stone has been the one financing all her needs and her mother's, she is embarrassed and furious with Stone. She refuses to be indebted to him any longer and so she stops her college classes to work and earn a living to repay Stone. Even with Stone telling her that there's no need to repay him for anything, Faith is still adamant that she needs to stop receiving financial help from him.
Stone is shocked to find a great beauty in Faith after all these years. He proposes to her a strictly platonic marriage in exchange of erasing all her debts from him. Faith is practical and cannot refuse the offer. Stone even agrees on paying for her school and letting her finish her degree and also to take care of her mother. Since her primary concern is to take care of her mother and let her have the best quality of life in her later years, Faith accepts Stone's marriage proposal.
Stone introduces Faith to his mother and they marry quickly. Even married, Stone has trouble letting Faith into his life. He is an absentee husband letting her do what she wants without his input. He keeps his business separate from her. He alienates her from his mother because he has a strained relationship with her. He does his best to stay away from her because the sight of her makes him want to sleep with her. But they eventually sleep together. Faith starts thinking of forever but Stone still maintains that the marriage is only for a year. When Faith admits to him that she loves him Stone is flabbergasted. Faith runs away from him. The time of separation helps Stone realize that he loves Faith and wants her in his life.
