Plot Summary of All I Ever Needed
"According to gossip, Gabriel Whitney "East", Marquis of Eastland, is engaged to Lady Sophia Colly. But it was his mistress who started the rumor because he had mentioned Sophia was exactly what he did not want in a bride. He thought her beautiful but cold. He goes to meet her and proposes because honor demands it. She tells him he is a drunkard, gambler, and murderer to forestall him from proposing. But he proposes anyway and she turns him down sharply and he leaves. He is not as relieved as he should be and shortly thereafter discoveres his lemonaide was drugged. He is sure she is not involved. When she dissappears for a month he discovers she is being kept in her room by her cousins to force her to marry but she refuses him again. East later goes to her cousins estate to negotiate for an East India settlement and meets Sophia again. She is worried that her cousin will force East to marry her through some compromise. She is being tortured by her cousin as punishment and East takes her away to stay with his sister and that's when the real trouble starts. "

"    Lady Sophia Colley is a woman who is misused by family, forced to work as a governess for her cousin's children. When the family coffers begin to get low, they decide that Sophia must marry a wealthy man in order to secure the family finaces. Sophia does not wish to marry because she fears any husband she picks will be killed by her nefarious uncle, the man she believes actually killed her father to secure his position as the Earl of Tremont. When a rumor is started among society that she engaged to the Marquess of Eastlyn, her family pounces on the twist of good luck, since it is known that he is extremely rich.
The Marquess of Eastlyn, affectionately known as East, is confounded when he learns of the rumor of his engagement. He finds the culprit of the rumor to be his scorned ex-mistress who is angered at East for not proposing to her. When East goes to visit Sophia, he is scared that she is going to force his hand, since he is honorbound to propose due to the rumor, but he is suprised to find a amazingly intelligent woman who relieves him of any obligation and sets him free from any engagement. East is intrigued by Sophia and finds himself constantly thinking of her.
Sophia's family is angry at her for letting the Marquess go, and imprison her in her room for a month before exiling her to the country. East learns of Sophia's predicament, and goes to the country to investigate her situation, only to find she is being abused by her nefarious family. He helps her escape and as he escorts her to her safe house, they indulge in their passion for one another.
As Sophia finds herself pregnant, she decides to lose herself in the country to raise her child, only East manages to track her down and convince her of his love for her. The two marry, but before they settle into marital bliss, the must first battle her family before they can find peace."
