| Plot Summary of The Captains Marshall: A Promise of Freedom |

"Saoirse and Giselle Marshall are not typical 17th century English young ladies. They can sail, navigate, and wield a weapon as well as any man, having learned from their fathers, the owners of Marshall Ships. When their fathers pass away and they are left under the supervision of their uncaring and authoritative grandmother, the two cousins escape on a Marshall ship, enlisting the help of their fathers' crew. They embark on an adventure that takes them to the mysterious islands of the Caribbean, where they engage in piracy to defend themselves FROM piracy.
They meet an evil captain named Dunkelherz during a pirate attack, and the captains let him live because their good nature makes them hesitant to kill. But the two women will later regret letting Dunkelherz go, for he harms Peter, the cabin boy that Saoirse is very fond of. Peter is nursed back to health while out on the open sea, and Saoirse and Giselle make it their mission to find Dunkelherz's ship, and this time they won't let him get away. "
