| Plot Summary of A Teenager's Journey |
"In 1980, after Richard's father dies, and David joins the service, the family move to Utah to get away from painful memories that the evil mother created. They pack their belongings, as they do so, Richard (the main person) starts drinking gin with his friends. I was sad to see that a kid could allow drugs in his life. He also starts using hard drugs, with the intention of killing himself. He also has a gun that one of his friends sold to him.
He is all alone wondering about life, while Keith, Scott, and his mother pack the bags. Soon after that, they say goodbye to all the neighbors, who by the way did nothing to help either David or Richard.
All this happens two weeks after the father dies of cancer. So Richard has his suicide plan all mapped out, and he wonders whether or not to shoot himself in the yard or in the car. He, during his years at the house in CA, had his first sexual romp, his first drug and he also would slwwp out there when things were too tight.
He meets Darlene Nichols. This happened as he was trying to
pull the trigger on this gun. However the safety lock was on and nothing happened (thank god). Darlene talks to him about coming over and meeting her family. He then saw hope from the trouble he was in. He was seceretly glad someone had stepped in and interfered.
He had come over to Darlene's home and met her spouse, John. A big strong man. Richard fell in love with that family, and he adored the kids, because they taught him love. They taught him the importance onchildhood. "
