| Plot Summary of Lady Rogue |
" Christine "Kit" Brantley, is the niece of the Duke of Furth, and her father is the estranged brother of the Duke who has turned to smuggling to make ends meet. The smuggling operation is under jeopardy due to a english spy who is intercepting shipments. In order to find the spy, Kit, who has been under disguise as a male since the age of six, has insinuated herself in the household of the Earl of Everton, Alexander Cale. Alex's father owed a debt of honor to Kit's father, and he has asked him to repay it by taking in Kit for a month while he is away on business, in actuality, Kit is supposed to gather information and discover who the spy is that has been interfering in their business.
Alex quickly discovers that Kit is actually a girl, but supports her disguise, wanting to fulfill his debt with as little trouble as possible. While staying with Alex, Kit poses as his cousin, and quickly insinuates herself with his friends, going to gentleman's clubs, gambling and all other kinds of escapades, discreetly gathering information in the process. Alex and Kit quickly find themselves enjoying each other's company and they also feel the spark of sexual attraction between them.
As Kit discovers the English spy, Alex discovers Kit's agenda. Kit does not realize she is being used as pawn by a father who has not only lied about their smuggling, but also has lied to her about her past. Alex does not know if Kit is a traitor to the crown or an innocent. As they set to uncover the truth, the couple plunge hopelessy in love, but intrigue that surrounds them is a an obstacle that they must overcome or their love can be destroyed by it.
