Plot Summary of Fox Evil
"James Lockyer-Fox lives alone in a big house since his wife died.
She was found dead on the terrace wearing only a nightgown and wellies, the doors into the house were closed. Investigation has proven james innocent, but the gossip in the village says otherwise.

Meanwhile James is looking for his granddaughter, who was given up for adoption at birth. She refuses to have anything to do with the family, until the tone of his letters changes and she comes to visit him.

James' lawyer, Mark Ankerton, has come to stay with him, because he thinks the man is very depressed.
Mark finds out that James keeps getting phone calls during both day and night, in which people say he is guilty of the murder and even worse things.
Those calls are made by women (from the village) and someone sounding like Darth Vader.

At the same time, a group of travellers settle in the Copse. The are lead by a man who calls himself Fox Evil. He happens to know that the Copse has no owner, and has taken some people to squat it until it becomes theirs by the english squatters law.

One of the women in the camp however, Bella, thinks fox might have a hidden agenda.

The women who call James, when confronted, say they have their information to his son Leo (a gambler) and his daughter (a drug addict), but this turns out to be impossible.

There is a lot of hate in the family though, the kids see their father only as a source of money.

And then there are the couple who live in the lodge for free, in return for keeping the household, which they don't. The woman is senile, but it is hard to tell when she is speaking the truth or when she is deluded.

Until the end of the book it is uncertain who the men with voice distorter is.
