Plot Summary of Wicked
"After the death of her mother, Camille Montgomery is left in the care of her beloved stepfather, Tristan Montgomery. For as long as she can remember, Tristan has been skirting the law and getting himself into all kinds of scrapes. When Tristan is caught red-handed trying to steal a priceless Egyptian artifact by it's owner, Earl Brian Stirling, Camille is forced to go with the Earl to protect Tristan from the consequences of his actions. The Earl, nicknamed the Beast of Carlyle due to a mask he wears to hide his scarred face, is keeping Tristan captive at his estate. Upon discovering that Camille works at the British Museum as a hieroglyphics translator, the Earl uses that knowledge to make a deal with Camille. The Earl agrees to release Tristan if Camille will move into his estate. Although shocked at the risque plan, Camille agrees and earns her stepfather's freedom. Camille moves into the Beast of Carlyle's home and quickly discovers that behind the gruff exterior is a man who has suffered greatly and endured unbearable loss. Years ago the Earl lost both of his parents during a freak accident during an archeological dig in Egypt. Although their deaths were ruled accidental and the result of asp stings, the Earl believes in his heart that his parents were murdered. The Earl suspects that the murderer is in London and is part of the team working with Camille at the museum or closely associated with museum's Egyptian artifacts collection. The Earl believes that Camille will provide him an entree into the museum's world and that he will be able to nab his parents' killer. As Camille and the Earl join forces to catch a killer, they find themselves surrendering to a passion that neither can ignore. As Camille's love inspires the Earl to drop his defenses, he must protect the love of his life from a ruthless killer."
