| Plot Summary of Sleep With Me |
"Richard impregnates Leila in the first chapter's first paragraph but subsequently becomes increasingly infatuated with Sylvie whose elfin charm conceals a convoluted character capable of unimaginable complexity.
These three circle round each other in the midst of a small coterie of London city dwellers who emote to each other and themselves, mainly about their erotic ambitions and disappointments. As Leila slowly progresses towards parturition the plot develops mysterious involvements of third parties meeting on the city streets by coincidence.
There is a revelatory flash-back encounter in France between two of the protagonists that presages the build-up to the resolution of a tragically fraught triangle.
