| Plot Summary of Lying With Strangers |
" Peyton Shields, a pediatric intern, unbeknownst to her in the beginning, is being stalked by someone who thinks she loves him. The stalker feels this way because he chats with "her" on the internet, and "she" leads him on. Soon, menacing things began to happen to Peyton, and she realizes she is being stalked. She cannot seem to convince others around her of this fact, so it is up to her alone to establish evidence. Before long, people whom the stalker thinks are attracted to her are murdered. Through a series of events, Peyton, and her husband Steve, are accused and taken to trial for the last murder. It does not look good for the two of them. Prison seems imminently close for them. Eventually, the stalker stabs Kevin in an attempt to kill him. Peyton finally realizes that someone has been impersonating her on the internet, and that person is someone close to her. The crazed stalker also learns that she does not love him which leads to a confrontation in Kevin's hospital room. "
