Plot Summary of Murder on the Iditarod Trail
"The Iditarod Race is the centerpiece for this murder mystery. Jessie Arnold is Alaska's premier female musher and she is noticing that all around her the other premier mushers are dying one by one through accidents, some of which seem to be hard to explain away. Jessie is having one of the best races of her career though and wants to push on, but is being extra cautious. She is also working to stay safe and keep her dogs out of peril. There is a lot of description on the mushing and the training it takes to be able to compete on this elite level.

Alaska State Trooper Alex Jensen is assigned to track down the murderer, and quickly as there have been 3 deaths before the race is half over. With the race underway and the contestants not wanting to stop the competition it makes his job a lot harder to complete. Alex approaches Jessie and gets her advice on some of his thoughts and is drawn to her.

At check points Jessie starts to help Alex put together some of the clues. Jessie tells Alex how it is not an accident for someone that is familiar with a section of trail to suddenly run off the trail in good conditions.
