| Plot Summary of Slow Burn |
"Kate MacKenna is having some bad luck. First, she is nearly killed in an explosion at her friend's party. She is the only one injured. After she is released from the hospital, she learns that her mother used Kate's own company as collateral on a loan that is due in a month. Later that same night Kate gets a phone call from her best friend, Jordan. Jordan is having a biopsy and wants Kate with her. Kate is terrified for Jordan, and drops everythng to visit her. She is relieved when her friend turns out to be fine, and has an emotional breakdown in front of Jordan's brother, Dylan, who has always had a thing for Kate. One thing leads to another, and they end up having a one night stand.
When Kate arrives home again, two more attempts are made on her life within a few hours. Jordan becomes worried and sends Dylan, who is a cop, down to Kate to check out the situation. He thinks that Kate's just having a run of bad luck, until he finds her and learns the details about all that has happend to her. Kate seems to have made a few enemies lately, and the list of people with a motive to kill Kate grows as she inherits over $80 million by from a relative that she never even knew existed.
Dylan is determined to keep Kate safe from whoever is trying to kill her. He becomes her bodyguard, and as he spends more time with her their relationship intensifies. But as the danger continues to grow, the list of suspects grows along with it. And before Dylan and Kate can work out their personal relationship, they must first figure out who is trying to kill her, before it is too late."
