Plot Summary of Betrayed
"Sarah MacKenzie hurt to find out that she wasn't the beloved child of
Lachlan MacKenzie, the duke of Ross. So she fled to Edinburg where she started her dream to set up a place for the orphans. The handsome General of the Complement, who just arrived in town, could be the only person to help her out. But he was Michael Elliot, her betrothed's younger brother. She had enough of the Elliots and swore never to set eyes on an Elliot again.

Michael Elliot, who just resigned from the Complement and was back to
Edinburg, was the forgotten second son of the countess of Glenforth,
Lady Emily. His elder brother, Henry Elliot betrothed to Sarah, was a gambler and he needed Sarah's dowry to pay off his debt to get out of prison. So Lady Emily turned to seek help from the reluctant Michael in her scheme to woo Sarah, who refused to waste her money on the selfish prideful Henry. Nevertheless, Michael and Sarah found it hard to resist each other.
