Plot Summary of The Time In Between
"Ada's father is Charles Boatman, a Vietnam veteran who returns to Vietnam 28 years after the war. But he disappears, and Ada, together with her younger brother, Jon, goes to Danang to try to find him.
It's a long and disappointing search. Ada finds out that her father is dead, and that he probably took his own life. But why?
Ada and Jon meet different people who had known their father, and through the relationships formed there, as well as, on Ada's part, reflections on her life as a child of a disillusioned, unhappy war veteran, we come to understand something of what it must have been like - especially for Ada. She is very much like her father, and has come closer to him in this journey."
