| Plot Summary of Remember Summer |
"Raine Smith is about to compete in the Olympics as a part of the American Equestrian team. Her father is an anti-terrorist investagator in the government, and he missed out on most of Raine's childhood because of his job. As a resault Raine is cynical and resentful of all special government agents. She knows what the job does to the lives of the people around the agent, and is cynical about having any kind of relationship with anyone associated with that kind of work.
Raine's father insists on seeing his daughter compete in the Olympics, but he is the current target of a major terrorist. The government also suspects that Raine is a target, because of her father and all of the publicity she's getting. Agent Robert Johnston is sent to scout out the Olympic grounds for possible threats and to protect Raine. He seeks her out under the alias of Cord Elliot. Once he finds her, Cord is inexplicably drawn to her warmth and beauty. He's spent his adult life facing violence and death and on the brink of burn-out, but he doesn't realize this until he meets Raine Smith. As he gets to know her, Cord realizes that he wants more from life than he is getting. He wants Raine. Raine is weary or Cord. She knows that he is some kind of agent, like her father, but she doesn't know why he's there or who he really is. She's increadibly attracted to him, but she will never commit herself to someone like her father.
As Cord falls in love with Raine, he realizes that he can't keep both her and his job. He turns in his resignation without hesitation. But he knows that he can't stop working until after he hunts down the terrorist that is currently after Raine and her Father. As the Olympics draw nearer and the threat grows stronger, Cord must work harder than ever to keep Raine safe. When he finally confronts her would-be killer on the day of the Olympics, he is willing to put everything, including himself, on the line. In the end that is exactly what is required of him. He kills the terrorist, and is on the point of death himself. But all Raine knows as that he walked away from without a word her on the most important day of her life, and never came back. Once Cord recovers, he must explain everthing to Raine and try to convince her that they have a future together."
