| Plot Summary of The House on the Gulf |

"Brittany, also known as Brit has had a relatively good life, until they move to Florida. They moved into a really bad part of town and are barely able to pay rent. Everything changes when her protective and mature brother Brandon, a.k.a Bran, finds an elderly couple, the Marquis', who want someone to look after and live in their house during their summer vacation. This is just the opportunity Brit's mom needs to allow her to not work and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor, which problems in her past with her family did not allow her to do until now. The situation seems great, but Brit thinks Bran is acting strange. Even though he's normally extremely polite, he cut her off from introducing her to Mr. Marquis, he locked the shed and when she mentioned it, he moved boxes from the shed into his locked closet, and he acts nervous and jumpy at all times, not letting her talk to the neighbors or even stand on the front porch. Brit does some investigating and finds out that this house belongs to her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus. She confronts Bran and finds out that not only are they living in their grandparents house, but their grandparents don't even know that they are there, and her mom knows nothing about any of this. Brit promises not to tell mom and dash her hopes of being a doctor, but has no idea what to do about it. She slowly starts to put it in the back of her mind as the summer continues and nothing happens, but then one day, Ms. Marcus walks into the door and sees them living in her house and threatens to call the police.
