Plot Summary of The Midnight Before Christmas
"The day before Christmas, Carl goes into a rage at his ex-wife Bonnie's house because she won't let him see their son. Bonnie goes to the law firm where Megan McGee agrees to talk to her. Bonnie tells Megan that Carl was a drinker and abusive during their marriage, and that Carl even tried to poison their child Tommy. Megan decides to help Bonnie get an immediate restraining order.

In the meantime, Carl figures out that Tommy is in day care, and picks him up. When Bonnie finds out, she and Megan go looking for Carl and Tommy. They find Carl and Tommy at a restaurant. Tommy's food is taken to be examined by the toxicologist at the police department, and Megan finds out that it was poisoned. With this information, it is easy for Megan to get the restraining order for Bonnie. However, Carl goes to Bonnie's house again, and after the house is surrounded by police, Carl is shot in the yard. He is not killed, and Megan goes to the hospital to talk to him. When she talks to him, she starts to become confused. He does not sound like the abusive man Bonnie made him out to be.
