| Plot Summary of Desire in the Sun |
"Delilah "Lilah" Remy can't help but fall for the smooth talking, terrible flirt Jocelyn "Joss" San Pietro upon their very first meeting. After a tender kiss and leisure stroll, Lilah is ready to fall for the handsome young business man. But, in a dramatic turn it is revealed the Joss' grandmother was of a mixed race and a slave, making the English-born Joss property of Lilah's cold hearted great-aunt. He great-aunt auctions off a battered and severely beaten Joss in front of Lilah's very own eyes and in a plead to end his beatings, she purchases him through the coaxing of her new fiancee, Kevin (that she hastily accepts in her heartbreak of Joss' true origins) for her father.
Lilah leaves her aunts colonial home, in order to return home to Barbados with Joss, a slave, and her fiancee aboard a travel ship. After a severe storm the ship goes down and Lilah is stranded on a deserted island with Joss, whom she denies having feelings for. It doesn't take long for her to give into the true lusty feelings she has for Joss after witnessing his bare body running about the island and soon they become torrid lovers. They promise that once they are freed from the island neither will reveal the fact the Joss is truly a slave. The arrival of pirates has Joss joining their team under duress and Lilah chopping of her hair and pretending to be his filthy, mentally ill nephew. The pirate ship is captured, and in order to protect Joss from being hung as a pirate, Lilah reveals that he is her property, which causes a rift in their romance. Lilah arrives home and after a few days of separation she explains the truth to Joss. They continue their secret romance at late night hours, until her fiancee discovers them and her father is enraged at the truth."
