Plot Summary of Shadow Divers

"In the summer of 1991, a charter fishing boat captain searching for new fishing spots off the coast of New Jersey located a large object on the ocean floor. When he passed the location to some friends who were deep sea wreck divers, they went down for a look and discovered a submarine. But not just a submarine -- a German U-Boat from the Second World War! There was no record in U.S. or German archives of any such craft being in the area, let alone being sunk by American warships. What was it doing there?

Crack deep sea wreck divers John Chatterton and Richie Kohler explored the wreck, 230 feet down, repeatedly for six years, trying to solve its mysteries. Several divers died in the attempt, new diving techniques would be necessary for success, and Kohler would travel to Germany to meet the families and survivors of the German sailors who died in action where nobody -- especially the history books -- knew about them. "
