Plot Summary of Off The Record
"Attorney Jane Marlow is a conservative and predictable woman, one who is considered a workaholic by her co-workers and straight-laced by her brother, Andy. Jane's whole world is turned upside down when her brother convinces her that rock star Teddy Rock is their childhood neighbor, Theodore Brockford. Even more surreal, Andy presents clear and convincing evidence to suggest that Jane is the inspiration for Teddy's breakout hit "Janey 245". Although Jane can barely remember Theodore Brockford and has no recollections of any interaction with him, she can't help but be a bit flattered by the song. After all, everyone in her life is always telling her that she's boring and ultra conservative. In an attempt to save the struggling bar of Sam, who is a surrogate father figure to Andy and Jane, Andy comes up with the idea of advertising that the real Janey 245 will be present at a promotion at Sam's bar. When Jane walks into Sam's bar with Drew, one of the partners in her firm, she is blindsided by Andy's plan. Jane becomes the center of attention and ends up singing karoake on stage. Handsome Drew can't believe that predictable Jane actually has a wild side. The next morning Jane's picture and identity as Janey 245 is plastered across the pages of the newspaper. As Jane is thrust into the spotlight and reunited with Teddy Rock she is thrust into a whirlwind rock and roll adventure."
