| Plot Summary of The Offer |
" When Lady Sabrina Eversleigh's brother-in-law attempts to rape her, she feels she has no choice but to flee her home. Her sister has turned against her and Sabrina fears for her Grandfather's safety if she tells what Trevor did to her. But Sabrina becomes lost in a blizzard while she escapes.
Viscount Philip Merecerault, also lost in the blizzard, comes across Sabrina while she is freezing to death in the wilderness. He takes her to an abandoned hunting box and nurses her back to health. In doing so he also compromises her reputation. He offers to marry her, but she refuses.
Sabrina changes her mind, however, after being scorned by London for her status as a trollop. She proposes to Phillip, offering him her inheritence and his continued freedom, and they are married. When Sabrina finds herself falling in love with her husband she begins to realize what a mistake it was to offer Phillip his complete freedom from her. She understands that she cannot tolerate being but one of the many women in her husband's life, so she must make him understand the meaning of marriage or find a way to escape her life with him which is beginning to destroy her."
