| Plot Summary of 22 Indigo Place |
"After the death of her father, Southern belle Laura Nolan is faced with the harsh realities of life when she learns that her father left her nothing but a mountain of debts. Faced with the prospect of paying her father's debts, Laura is more distraught when she discovers that she must sell her family home, 22 Indigo Place, due to the financial situation. Growing up, Laura Nolan was the pampered only child of well to do parents, living in a grand old home that served as a symbol of her family's prosperity. Now, she is faced with losing everything. When Laura is informed by her realtor that an Atlanta millionaire wants to buy 22 Indigo Place, she is both relieved and dismayed. Although she will be closer to repaying her father's debts she will be losing her beloved home. When Laura meets the Atlanta millionaire she is shocked to discover that he is James Paden, the bad boy from high school who drove race cars and ran wild in her hometown of Gregory. Although Laura and James ran with totally different crowds and had nothing in common, Laura can't help but remember the one steamy kiss they shared. James is determined to buy 22 Indigo Place out from under Laura. Once upon a time growing up in Gregory James was the neer do well from the wrong side of the tracks, treated like poor white trash by the well to do society types like the Nolans. Now a successful businessman with his own multimillion dollar corporation, James is determined to show the people of Gregory that he's made a success of his life. After he purchases 22 Indigo Place from Laura, James offers Laura the deal of a lifetime. He wants her to marry him and lend her air of respectability to him and his small daughter Mandy. In exchange, James will restore Laura to the lifestyle to which she has always been accustomed. Further, she won't have to leave 22 Indigo Place. With nowhere else to turn, Laura accepts James' offer and marries him. As Laura begins to fall in love with her husband, she fears that James is only interested in her family name and social connections. "
