| Plot Summary of Playing James |
"Holly Colshannon is a twenty five year old beat reporter for the Bristol Gazette, an English newspaper. When her employer promotes her to crime reporter (a job no one else wanted) Holly is a bit dismayed. When she is assigned to shadow the gorgeous detective James Sabine and report on all that goes on during the course of his days, Holly tries to keep a positive attitude. First of all, James is gorgeous, and second, this assignment allows her to have her own byline. From the beginning of her assignment James seems less than thrilled to have her on board. He treats her like a perpetual nuisance and advises her to refrain from wearing stylish, high heeled boots on assignment. Holly tries to take it all in stride and ignore her attraction to the overbearing cop. After all, she already has a boyfriend, Ben, and James is engaged to the gorgeous Fleur. Holly's column is an unexpected hit with readers who clamor to read her new column each morning. When Holly discovers that James is a grieving widower who has been struggling to get over the loss of his wife, her feelings for James intensify. All the while Holly is dealing with her wacky big family, her neurotic friend Lizzie, Lizzie's boyfriend Alistair, her rugby loving boyfriend Ben and her co-workers at the paper. As Holly's relationship with Ben unravels she realizes she has fallen in love with James, who is mere weeks away from walking down the aisle. "
