Plot Summary of Left Horse Black
"Prince Aragel of Sherok is a young man whose life has been tailored to someday take over the throne. When he uncovers a plot that would have both him and his uncle assassinated, he immediately takes responsibility and leaves his homeland behind him, with the help of his cousin, to gather reinforcements from allied Danaria. Tnasha fen'Schoitt is an inexperienced Danarian sorceress, and soldier, struggling with her own identity and abilities. In an attempt to prove herself to her father she concocts a poorly thought out battle plan, with the help of her friends, to save a kidnapped girl named Rassia. The plan backfires and she is captured by the Kersians – the enemy. She escapes with the help of her friends and Rassia, but loses her amulet in the process. Instead of going back to Danaria, Tnasha leads them to home of the Sorcerer Kalath, who tells her she must get the amulet back because the Kersians could use it against her people.

Meanwhile the Kersians, who are religious zealots, are attempting to secretly take over the thrones of human ruled kingdoms so they can build a human army to attack Danaria and the sorcerers who live there. Their sorcerer family line is dying and it is the only way for them to bring new breeding stock into the fold while killing their enemies at the same time.

The story follows Aragel and Tnasha until they run into one another in Orana Tulk as a band of suspicious raiders attack the city. They all get on the same ship and are out to sea before they realize they are on the same mission to stop the Kersians from enslaving humanity and starting a sorcerers war. Together they travel to the island of Zul (the Kersian Homeland) to take back an amulet and attempt to destroy the Kersians. When they arrive they realize the Kersians have recaptured Rassia and also Kalath. In order to free both Rassia and Kalath, and get the amulet back, a magical war ensues and Tnasha must rely on her wayward sorcery to try and defeat the Kersians.
