"Prudence Merryweather meets Sebastian, Earl of Angelstone because of her brother and soon finds herself in his debt. They both have many common interest especially in investigations although Prudence investigates something not so normal giving her the name The Original among the ton. While trying to repay his debt Prudence gets engaged in what she belives is a sham engagement. But Sebastian wants her and tries every chance he gets at seducing her into becomeing his wife. They both have problems concerning their relationships such as Prudence's protective brother and Sebastian's resentful relatives. There's also Prudence's past relationship and a killer who Sebastian needs to stop or else one of his relatives gets hanged. Throughout their engagement and marriage Sebastian has a need to protect Prudence."
