| Plot Summary of Portal |
"Joseph Turner is a talented physicist who creates the TMD, Temporal Manipulation Device, the world's first working time machine. He has a hidden motive: fifteen years ago, he had made a mistake that cost him the love of his life, so now he wants to go back and change things, change the past.
Joseph is so eager to save the woman he loves that he tests the machine before it is ready for testing, despite the fact that the first time-traveler - a rabbit - had been found dead upon its return. At first, Joseph's attempt appears to have been successful: he comes back from his short trip to the past, and he comes back alive. However, as his personality begins to change, it becomes clear that something went wrong.
What follows is a fascinating combination of industrial espionage, assassination attempts, a touching love story, and one man's desperate quest to change the past.
"Portal" is Book 1 of a trilogy, so there are some loose ends, definitely left on purpose to be taken care of later."
