Plot Summary of I am Mordred
" Merlin prophesies that one day Mordred will kill Arthur. So as a baby Mordred's father, King Arthur, sends him and a bunch of other babies out to sea to die. All the babes die, except for Mordred who is rescued by a kind fisherman. The fisherman and his wife raise Mordred until a strange lady comes riding up and takes Mordred away.

Growing up in the palace where the lady left him, Mordred is shunned by his mother and abused by his brothers. One day his brother (who is actually his half brother and cousin) tells him that he is Arthurs son and is destined to kill him. Mordred is stunned when he hears this and when he finds out that his father tries to kill him.

When Mordred becomes a man he heads to Camelot to bevome a knight. When he meets his father he both hates him and longs to have his father recognize and love him. As Mordred strives to overcome his fate he goes on a quest to save both his and his father's lives. Along the way he meets Morgan Le Fay, who tells him that it is impossible to deny your destiny. She urges him to kill Arthur soon, but Mordred refuses to do so.

Kristie Crofoot, Resident Scholar

"Mordred is the boy who is planning to kill his father, King Arthur, and everyone knows about him.    King Arthur decided to try to kill him by sending him out to sea along with many other babies right after he was born, but a fisherswife found him and took him in.   He lived with the fisherswife and her family for a long time, not knowing anything about his destiny.   Then one day Nyneve, a sorceress who wanted to keep him alive decided to take him to his mothers house.   He still did not know anything about his father until his half brother, Garret, told him the whole story to make him mad.
When Mordred turned fifteen, he went to Camelot to serve as a knight under King Arthur, his father, as a Knight of the Round Table.    His head is filled with all kinds of notions of his father calling him son and accepting him, but when he gets there, he finds out that if King Arthur were to do that, it may destroy his whole kingdom.   Instead of accepting him as a son, King Arthur gives him many things, gives him a boon, and treats him as a favorite.   King Arthur is so kind and generous to everyone that Mordred finds himself come to love him, even though the King tried to kill him.    The only problem with this is that Mordred is still set to kill King Arthur.   He knows what he has to do, but he knows it won't be easy."
