"Arielle Hale was diagnosed with glioblastoma or a brain tumour in layman's term. Desperate to keep from devastating her parents, who both suffered tremendously over the death of her brother, she hired a hit to end her life. However, it turned out that there was a terrible mistake and her headaches were not symptoms of the disease but merely stress.
This was where Douglas (Doug) Masterson came in. An ex-member of the Marines, he was highly recommended by Arielle's friend, Shannen (wife of Rhone, Doug's ex-partner in their agency). Unable to resist ‘Miss tall, long hair, thin but with curves in all the right place', he found himself putting his life on the line to protect her. A twist of fate revealed the mysterious killer as Samuel Pickins, recently released from prison. Doug has aided in convicting Pickins, his former-buddy for two cases of cold-blood murder and ultimately, ended his career. For that, Pickins vowed to avenge what he believed to be a breach of loyalty – Semper fidelis (Marine Corp's motto).
To add to the plot, Doug was wary of his dangerous attraction to the sensitive, amid often psycho-analysing Arielle whom he found immensely kissable. He was a man who swore off love after the tragic death of his fiancée. Yet, the sweet and trusting nature of Arielle managed to wiggle underneath his well-erected defences.
