| Plot Summary of Flame |
"A young Yankee ex-school ma'am named Ashley Webster is on a mission that simply cannot be delayed. Her dear brother, Cole, has been wrongly accused of murder and being detained at Fort Bridger. Unfortuantly, the Wild West isn't a place for a woman. At least not one without a man.
Tanner MacTavish was a Johnny Reb with a strong dislike for any and every Yank because of conduct in the Civil War. When being held in a local jail for starting a fight, he can't believe that this young woman whirls on in and demands a marriage.
No wagon trail will allow Ashley to accompany them because of the danger of a woman alone, so she finds a way around that and quickly finds a convenient husband. Well, maybe not too convenient.
Tanner and Ashley couldn't be more different, but as they spend time together the attraction they feel for one another grows into a passionate love.
This book has a plethora of adventure to keep one occupied. Ashley is kidnapped by Indians, her brother marries and Indian princess, and not to mention Ashley and Tanner's love must overcome many obstacles - including Tanner being suspected of murdering while in the wagon train."
Ashley Abbott, Resident Scholar
