| Plot Summary of The Indiscretion |
"Lydia Bedford-Browne, the sheltered daughter of an English viscount, decides to travel by coach by herself across Dartmoor in southern England to attend her maid's wedding. Her other occupant in the coach is a drunken Texas rancher named Sam Cody, who, for the second time to the same woman, missed their wedding. This ended their wedding plans. He is going home to Texas. When their also drunk driver falls off the coach, and the coach crashes, Lydia and Sam set out to find a road. Traveling together without much idea where they are going, the two discover common interests and a common attraction. Lydia and Sam start an affair that ends when they are rescued.
Back in civilization, Sam tries to woo Lydia. However, back amongst her family, Lydia's class consciousness is aroused, and she believes Sam, an American and not an aristocrat, is not good enough for her family. But Sam persists in his attentions, then, after repeated ill treatment from Lydia, he finally loses all patience and enumerates all of her faults to her in front of a room full of people. By this time, Lydia sees that she has been treating Sam unfairly and wants him. But now, he wants to be away from her."
