Plot Summary of The Reluctant Reformer
"    When Lord James vows to keep a promise to his dear war comrade, Gerald, he attempts to find the object of his vow, Lady Margaret Wentworth, his friend's sister whom he'd sworn to protect. When James hired a bow street runner to find out about her, the runner came back with information that she was the notorious Lady X, a prostitute! Margaret is not the prostitute, she is actually the infamous newspaper columnist, G.W. Clark, at the house of ill repute in disguise investigating her next column.

James decides to kidnap Margaret and bring her to his country estate until he decides a new course for her life, and Margaret is dumbfounded by why she was kidnapped and does not know that he thinks she is Lady X. When James presents who he is and how is brother sent him, Margaret understands but is still annoyed, especially since an attraction is growing between the two until it escalates into a torrid lovemaking session that is inturrupted not only by his Aunt, but also his hired runner, who brings news of his error and Margaret's true identity.

Margaret, who is furious that James thought she was a prostitute, leaves immediately with Aunt, only to find a new threat awaiting her at home when attempts are made on her life repeatedly. James steps in to protect her and their passion for one another burns brighter than ever before, not only kindling the need to protect Margaret, but also letting a deep and abiding love to blossom between the couple."
