Plot Summary of The Nerd Who Loved Me
"Lainie is a beautiful showgirl and Harry is an accountant. Harry's pretty sure a woman like Lainie would never be interested in him, but circumstances bring them together. Lainie's ex-boyfriend has come to Vegas, and he wants his son back. Lainie's not about to let the drunken and violent man have him, and Harry volunteers his help to keep the two of them safe. Lainie can't help but wonder, however, if her son wouldn't be better off with his father, since his father's family has the kind of money that could send him to the kind of schools that would nuture his growing intelligence. Harry, a pretty intelligent man himself, doesn't mind playing chess with the four year-old, but he can't give the boy the future his father could.

In order to give herself time to decide what to do, Lainie agrees to go with Harry to check out a vacation place for Harry's parents. Harry's mother agrees (gleefully - she's been wanting a grandson for a while) to watch out for Lainie's son. While there, Harry and Lainie's relationship starts to heat up, but Lainie still has her son's future to think of. There's also the question of whether Harry would even want to marry a showgirl who doesn't plan to give up dancing after marriage."
