While waiting for her divorce from her cheating spouse to be finalized, Mackenzie Morgan and her teenage daughter Bella take photographs of an abandoned fishery in an isolated part of the Appalachians. However, their solitude is disturbed when geologist Dell Shirley arrives on a horse accompanied by two dogs. Dell ties up Mac expecting her to die and abducts Bella.
Refusing to sit idly by while her daughter is in trouble, Mac treks four miles although still tied up until she reaches a ranger. The police begin a search and rescue led by volunteer tracker Caleb Howell while Bella's dad Marlowe blames Mac and acts as the caring concerned father with the media. However, the seemingly random kidnapping runs closer to home as truths begin to surface.

" Mackenzie Morgan is suffering through a divorce with her cheating spouse. She decides to take her daughter, Bella out with her on a photo shoot in the mountains, when they come upon a hiking geologist who calls himself Dell Shirley. When Dell gets too close to Bella Mackenzie gets worried, and for good reason. Dell ends up kidnapping Bella, and beating Mackenzie almost to death. Mac is too strong the be left to die, and makes her way down the mountain for help.
When the investigation and search and rescue missions go underway a certain main tracker named Caleb Howell enters Macs life. It seems that he is a genius tracker, solving many search and rescues quickly. Mac, despite her injuries treks along with Caleb in hot pursuit of her daughter. As the story unfolds, it seems that Caleb has his own personal reasons behind his strive to find Bella. Mac finds out much more about Caleb and Dell, the kidnapper as they track him. It seems that Dell is not exactly who he says he is."
