Plot Summary of Heat
"Former federal agent Jesse Warden is wrongly convicted of murder and robbery and is spending his spending sentence in solitary confinement at Atlanta Federal Prison. He is suddenly offered a chance of a presidential pardon if he could complete a dangerous mission for his ex-boss Dan Barker, who Warden believes is responsible for his false conviction.

Warden's mission is to infiltrate the religious cult at St. Clair, Idaho headed by Jack Jene coldwater, an ex-marine who has complete control over the town and is alleged to be involved in trafficking weapons. The mission had to be undertaken with extreme caution as two of the agents sent to St. Claire earlier have been killed. At St. Claire, Warden is put under surveillance by Coldwater and his henchmen. Warden gets himself a house and employment. He is seduced by his lovely landlady, Jenny. He immediately develops affection for the land lady and her daughter who reminds him of his own daughter Carrie.

Jenny gets pregnant and they get married. Warden doesn't believe he's going to be helped by Barker once he completes his mission. So, he decides, once he brings Coldwater and his illegal business to justice, he is going to find his own escape route with Carrie, Jenny and her daughter. The story contains a lot of suspense and moves very briskly.
