| Plot Summary of A Couple of April Fools |
"April Fools Day is near, and the girl's club, The Tattletales, decide to play a big joke on the boy's club, the Copycats. The new Empress of the Tattletales, Lois Kennedy, persuades big and mean transfer student, Thud Tweed, to dress up in a gorilla suit and pretend to be the Missing Link to fool the boys.
But something goes very wrong when the kids' beloved teacher, Miss Earth (possibly engaged to marry Timothy Grass, the mayor), disappears in the swampy Foggy Hollow behind the town library of Hamlet, Vermont.
Tension in the town builds as days pass and Miss Earth remains missing. Could it have something to do with the Flameburper (a genetic experiment that crossed a chicken and a lizard) that breathes fire and went missing in the woods in their last adventure, Three Rotten Eggs? Or one of the giant Siberian snow spiders from the previous fall, detailed in Seven Spiders Spinning? The deposed Empress of the Tattletales, Thekla Mustard, and the head of the Copycats, Sammy Grubb, must bring the warring kids together to find the answer and save their teacher."
David Loftus, Resident Scholar
