"Laura's mother is determined that her daughter will marry Edward Burlington, the catch of the year. But, Laura falls in love with Ahmed, an Egyptian prince. Ahmed tries to tell Laura that their romance will never work, since he's Egyptian, and she's British. But Laura doesn't listen, and runs away with him in Egypt to elope. Unfortunately, Ahmed is killed in a train crash. Laura's family disowns her, so Ahmed's family takes her in.
Laura gives birth to a beautiful daughter named Rosetta. Six years later, Laura meets Ahmed's mother's nephew, Omar. The two marry, and move to Paris, but eventually Laura realizes that marriage to Omar isn't all that she expected it to be. "
