| Plot Summary of White Lies |
"Jay Granger was just fired from her job as an investment banker when two FBI men show up at her New York apartment to tell her that her ex-husband, Steve Crossfield, might have been seriously injured in an explosion. They want her to go with them to see if she can identify the man who is now under guard at a military hospital. Jay agrees but the man is so covered in bandages, she is not entirely sure. Yet when it appears that the injured man is responding positively to the sound of her voice, she cannot refuse when the doctors ask her to stay and help with the man's recovery.
When he finally comes out of his coma, Steve has amnesia. Then the doctors remove the bandages over his eyes and Jay realizes this man is not Steve. But she has come to care about this man and knows that there must be some threat against his life for the government to have gone to such lengths to heal him and use Steve's identity as a cover. Jay decides to maintain the pretense that he is her husband so that she can protect him.
They are taken to a safe house in a remote Colorado area. Jay finds herself unable to resist the man she has fallen in love with and who thinks he is her ex-husband. But he still cannot remember who he is and his enemies are still looking for him."
