Plot Summary of I am a Cat
"I am a Cat is set in the Meiji era, Japan, early 1900's. An unwanted lost kitten finds a home in a schoolteacher's house and so begins his observations into the ordinary lives of humans.

This book is written as the cat's thoughts and perspectives on humans, from the schoolteacher's and his family and friends dramas, the lives of the other neighborhood cats, and the way of life in Japan during the upheaval of the Meiji period.
