| Plot Summary of Entwined |
"Nathan Paget, Marquess of Oriel, left the wars against Napoleon after he was badly injured in an explosion which killed his best friend. He has remained a recluse on his estates and there are whispers that he is mad. But the spy master who employed him wants Nathan to go to London to figure out who is killing an elite group of English spies.
Isobel MacLeod's father had been working as Nathan's secretary until, in a moment of weakness, he stole a bag of coins. Isobel goes to Nathan offering to make amends as long as her father is not sent to prison. She soon realizes what no one else has seen. Nathan is blind. She thinks she can take over her father's duties but is shocked when Nathan asks her to marry him. She is a poor plain Scottish gentlewoman who never expected to marry. But Nathan needs Isobel to help him negotiate his way in London and realizes Isobel has the preceptiveness and intelligence to help him ferret out the traitor.
She agrees to marry him because she can help him and he in turn can help maintain her father and brothers and sisters. But she discovers she feels a passion for proud but crippled man. Nathan quickly finds he has given his heart to his wife and needs to protect her despite his disabilities because whoever is betraying the English spies now seems intent on killing Nathan."
