Plot Summary of Into the Crucible: The Making of a 21st Century Marine
"The United States Marine Corps has long been acknowledged and respected as the fiercest military force in the world. 'Into the Crucible' gives a first-hand account of the most rigorous and demanding portion of the already intense training Marine recruits undergo on their path towards becoming full Marines. The author, James B. Woulfe provides a historical perspective of the heroism and dedication demonstrated by Marines both past and present, while detailing the individual stories of Marine recruits trying to make it through basic training. The Crucible is 54 hours of continuous challenges recruits must pass, with little rest and minimal food, but if they can perservere, they join the brotherhood of Marines that have served in every war the United States has fought in.
