In Greenfield, Indiana grammar school, Kate, Sarah, and Rebecca agreed to be friends for life. They began to keep a diary signed in their particular shade of lipstick that they maintain even when they reach 30.
When Kate learns her younger sister Jen became engaged to Mr. Wrong Mark, a womanizer and editor of the Daily Reporter, she decides to step in and save her sister. She enlists her two friends and they quickly leave from Florida for Indiana. There she persuades Jen to not marry if she or her pals find the perfect human male who can pass their eight criteria dating test. While Kate ruins the prenuptials, her boss Ian and Rebecca's beau Jared arrive to declare their love.
