| Plot Summary of Cat in the Dark |
"The main character in this series is Joe Grey, a tomcat. Joe and his lady, Dulcie, watch as another tomcat helps an old lady named Mavity whose visiting brother commit cat burglaries, and they try to solve the murders that come later in the book. Mavity's brother's only child (Dora) and her husband (Ralph) come from Alabama for a visit. They think the con artist who took them for all their money in Alabama is trying to do the same to Mavity. They end up dead, poisoned by the con artist who used morphine. "
