"Our Only May Amelia is about a girl named May Amelia who is the only girl (besides her mom) in a family ofeight brothers, both younger and older. She lives on a farm and she is very headstrong and like a tomboy. She really wants a baby sister so that she could take care of her. One day, her wish comes true! Her baby sister was born and was named Amy. May Amelia loves her and always takes care of her. When the baby dies while it was sleeping, May Amelia feels sad and horrible, and to make matters worse, her grouchy, mean grandmother said that the death was all May Amelia's fault. With the world so downcast to May Amelia, so she runs away. "
